3 Sisters Blue Mountains National Park

So, I decided to kick off my New Year's holiday with a trip to the iconic 3 Sisters at Blue Mountains National Park. It was one of those days where the weather was a bit unpredictable. I got there around 9 AM, and honestly, I couldn't see a thing. The fog was so thick you could barely make out the famous Three Sisters rock formation, let alone the breathtaking views of the valley below. I figured, since I was there early, I might as well sit back, relax, and have some breakfast while I waited for the weather to clear up.

By noon, the fog started to lift a bit, and slowly but surely, the stunning view began to unfold. It was well worth the wait! As the fog cleared, I could finally take in the sheer beauty of the mountains and the deep valleys stretching out below. The sight was absolutely mesmerizing—definitely one of those moments where you feel like you’re looking at a postcard come to life.

Apart from the view, the place had a nice little setup with shops selling local souvenirs. It was a fun way to pick up some keepsakes and gifts. They had everything from handcrafted jewelry to Aussie-themed goodies. If you're into that sort of thing, it’s a good spot to pick something up.

As for the facilities, I was pleasantly surprised to find the bathrooms pretty clean and well-maintained. Something you don't always expect when you're out in nature! For parking, there's a small fee, and the process is all done electronically. There's a little machine where you select how many hours you want to park, then you just scan your ATM card to pay. It was quick and easy—no hassle at all.

There was one thing I did notice though—there were a LOT of tour groups around. Most of them seemed to be from Asia and India. It felt like I was surrounded by tourists from all over the world! On the other hand, I saw very few Aussie locals, which was a bit surprising for a New Year’s day.

All in all, it was a wonderful trip. Sure, the fog delayed the view a bit, but it ended up being a relaxing day of taking in nature, exploring the little shops, and meeting fellow travelers from all over. Definitely a place I’ll come back to—preferably on a clear day next time!
